Joyful Home Candle Co. has been a dream of mine for a long time. My dad has built many successful businesses from the ground up with hard work and dedication. I knew I wanted to do the same but I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do. So, naturally, I turned to Pinterest for inspiration and came across a pin about candle making.

I ordered a candle making kit from Amazon then made my first and, let’s be honest, WORST candle! I was overjoyed because I learned one thing that night. I absolutely loved making that candle. It gave me an immense amount of joy and I knew I had found what I was looking for!

Then of course, life threw some curveballs. We moved back to our hometown, my husband got a new job plus started grad school, and we welcomed our second son into the world. It was a lot of change and just when we started settling to our new normal, life really shifted.

Our oldest son, Miles, was diagnosed with autism. The next few years were HARD. We were navigating this new chapter, and to be completely honest, I felt defeated and I had lost my joy.

I’ll never forget one night, crying to my husband, feeling completely empty and he randomly says, “Why don’t you start your candle business?” And in that moment, I had a feeling of hope.

For the next nine months, I poured my heart into learning the craft of candle making in my small kitchen. I tested different waxes, jars, wicks, and scents. Once I narrowed down how I wanted JHC Co. to look, I quickly realized it wasn’t just about making pretty candles (even though I will always strive to make pretty candles!), but it’s about creating candles that give you joy and remind you of home.

Because no matter what life throws your way, JOY is always there. Even when your days are chaotic and your home life is heavy, you can choose to focus on the ones you love and the simple little joys.

That’s when my life, my heart, and my home became joyful, and that’s how Joyful Home Candle Co. was born!
